Fabric Love

...from near

...and far!

My Mother and I were finally able to get together for a little fabric spree, here in town. Since it is her Grandmother who made these Dresdens, she wanted to buy the backing fabric for finishing these up! I wish I had some pictures of our day, which began with breakfast at Horst's Bakery on Madison's Main Street, and ended up at L & L Yard Goods in North Madison.

And then I received these bright batiks in the mail from my In-Laws, in Florida!

Thank you! Thank you, to my wonderful enablers!

One good turn...

...deserves another!
Last week, after my husband installed a custom red oak countertop in the kitchen of some long time friends, the lady of the house sent these home with him, for me!
"friendship soup" and delicious buttery, spicy candle!
It was such a welcome and sweet gesture, I had to respond in kind! And I happened to have this "orphan" set of coasters...so, over the weekend I made a "mini mat" to go with them.

They will live happily in her warm, cozy, country kitchen!!!

Gratuitous Name Drop

Do you remember my Liebster Award post?
In that post I randomly mentioned that I had gone to summer camp with Julia Roberts and her sister. I finally dug up a couple pictures :)

Here we are, on the same page, from the summer of 1979...

She has always been a cutie!

That's me, ground level, holding up my sister, Anne! We really were having fun!

All these girls also go thru life knowing they too went to camp with Julia Roberts :)

Gratuitous, yes. But lots of fun, too!

My Prettiest Thing

I've had my mind's eye on this little cutie, from "1/4" Mark" for a while now. I made it for a family member who has recently taken up knitting. I envision needles, yarn and the latest project tucked neatly into the oval "bucket" next to their favorite knitting chair!

This was a thrilling project for me to take on....so many firsts! The Bucket, or any quilted bag, a first. Zig zag patchwork, a first. Kaffe Fassett fabric, a first! It has been a 2 day marathon of sewing...I had to pay such close attention to everything!

I am exhausted and exhilarated with this accomplishment! I thank Amanda Jean for her wonderful zigzag tutorial. I ended up having to cut the zigs and zags off the top and bottom of my panel...I was trying to pay attention to everything, but adding an extra strip to each row didn't occur to me til too late!

I used every pin I had on the lining.....

And then, all of a sudden, I was finished!!!!!

And the sun came out!!!!!

Aaaah!

Yay, linked up with Finish It Up Friday @ CrazyMomQuilts! for the second time!!!!!
